In this past week, we used the knowledge we gained from Dr. Wang in trying to identify the stages of retinopathy. Throughout the week, we spent time on MatLab testing functions to analyze images of retina to begin digitally detecting the parts of the eye. In our first attempts, we are trying to develop a code that will find the blood vessels in an image. While the code we created didn't find blood vessels, it was indeed able to find the optical disk. So, thus far, we have a code that will allow us to detect the optical dish, which is a small part in breaking down the image until we are left with the specific part of the retina we are analyzing. Also, we did some literature review of an article related to the topic we are currently on, blood vessel detection. We are comparing the methods used in the article to the code we are trying to develop to detect blood vessels in the retina images.
